Meet Bridgette Russell, APR, Member, Board of Directors for PRSA Chicago, Immediate Past President
Bridgette is the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications at the Field Museum in Chicago, where she has been employed since 2021. She earned a B.A. in Print Journalism at Texas Southern University, and an MBA with a concentration in Marketing from the University of Phoenix.
Q&A with Bridgette
When and why did you originally join PRSA-Chicago?
I joined PRSA in 2020, while I was still living in Georgia, because I was looking for a community of communications professionals to sharpen my skills and expertise. When I moved to Chicago (which is home for me and where I grew up), I looked for the PRSA here because I had such a great experience with the members and resources available at my previous job. I was also in the middle of pursuing my APR when I got a communications role at the Field Museum, so shoutout to my mentor Edward Bury, APR, for helping me complete the process once I got to Chicago.
When did you join the board?
I joined the board almost immediately upon transferring my membership in 2021 because I was already familiar with the organization. I was quite excited to contribute to leadership in one of the nation's largest chapters! I was treasurer, then President-Elect, and served as President in 2025.
What committees have you served on?
I have been on the Executive Committee since 2021 and am currently the EC liaison to the Communications committee.
What would you tell someone who is considering joining the chapter?
I would tell someone who is considering joining the chapter that PRSA Chicago is an incredible experience. You not only have access to resources from communications professionals across the country, but also to networking across industries, which is priceless. There is someone who can offer advice, or a resource, or guidance -- wherever you are in your career, and whatever next step is on the horizon for you.
