April is APR Month - A Testimonial from Bridgette Russell, APR
Earning My APR Gave Me the Tools to Get the Job Done
Define the publics: Who are they, and what do we want them to do? It’s a conversation that happens in my head at the start of each new public relations campaign, and it has become automatic after earning the APR credential in February 2022. Becoming accredited was an amazing, pride-inducing experience. The APR process teaches you how to become more strategic and how to better define your work. What I use most in my day-to-day work as a PR professional is the strategic assessment of our audiences – our publics – that define our approach to outreach. The data about our audiences (who they are, where they are and what/who they read, watch or listen to) became more valuable once I really understood how to let the data clearly inform our strategy. We know that PR is not a one-size-fits-all approach. The APR gives you the tools to determine the best approach for each campaign and bolsters your confidence to get the job done.
