From the President's Desk: Recognize the Opportunity

Wow, 2025 has been a long year. As a millennial (granted, I’m an elder millennial which seems a little rude, but I’ll allow it), I long for some precedented times.
With all the things going on right now, the uncertainty can be daunting. In fact, it may seem like a really good time to hunker down, pull back, do less, and shrink a little bit – especially for anyone dealing with job uncertainty or instability.
But during a recent meeting with PRSA Chicago’s Executive Committee (shoutout to our EC!), we were able to outline why that is exactly the wrong approach.
It may be easier said than done. But now is the time for the “glass is half full” viewpoint. Yes, there is so much out of our control but what we can control is our own reaction.
Now is the time to lean in, pay more attention, network, be visible and be present because that’s exactly how we make ourselves available for unexpected opportunities. Talk to people in and outside of the industry. Go to events (go to PRSA Chicago events!) and go volunteer for causes you care about. Get involved. Reinforce your network and your strengths.
At PRSA Chicago, we’re here to offer you resources to do just that. Make sure you are connecting to recognize any and all opportunities even as we face challenges. We hope to see you at our next networking social on March 26 and at other upcoming programs as we navigate this – together.
Wishing you all the best,
Bridgette
