How to Celebrate PRSA APR Month

How to Celebrate PRSA APR Month

The Accredited in Public Relations (APR) credential can be obtained during any month on the calendar year. But each April, the Public Relations Society of America directs the proverbial spotlight on the APR as a way to encourage communicators from many disciplines to take on the challenge of becoming Accredited.

Professionals seek Accreditation because it can elevate a career, enhance skills needed to thrive today, and provide industry-wide recognition. Success requires both practical experience and a wide range of knowledge, and earning the APR demonstrates dedication to upholding the highest ethical standards in the practice of modern public relations.

Since the APR program was re-launched in 2003 through the computer-based examination process, around 20 members of PRSA Chicago have earned the credential. Over the past 24 or so months, Chapter members representing a major cultural institution, a leading university, and a full-service public relations agency have earned Accreditation.

Want to build more awareness for the APR and its role in public relations?  Here are two ways to celebrate Accreditation this April:

  1. If you are an Accredited member, make an extra effort to share through personal interaction or social media the value behind the credential in your career.
  2. If have yet to pursue Accreditation, make a point to contact an APR to learn more and perhaps even seek mentorship.
