From the President's Desk: Christmas in July?

July is often the month of interesting gimmicks, such as the “Christmas in July” campaigns that have horrified and delighted me relatively equally through the years. On the one hand, who wants to think about subzero temperatures and snow at the height of summertime Chi? On the other hand, who doesn’t love the holiday season full of joy and cheer?

Another thing about July is that it is officially closer to the new year, which may be even more jarring than thinking about snowflakes while basking in the sunshine. As we look toward 2026, our priority becomes ensuring that PRSA Chicago is well-positioned for leadership, and that’s where you all come in.

I’m thrilled to share that the PRSA Chicago Board of Directors Nominating Subcommittee (affectionately known as NomComm) is returning, and any current PRSA Chicago member can take part in this short-term volunteer opportunity (ie, two to three meetings total) if you have limited bandwidth. Participation in NomComm is a fantastic way to influence the next wave of board leadership. If you’re interested, please email [email protected] to let us know by Friday, July 25.

So you can think of your participation in NomComm as a bit of a gift, because apparently, ‘tis the season. But while we’re looking ahead, don’t forget to take a breath and recognize all that you have already accomplished this year, as a present to yourself.

With summer cheer,
Bridgette
