From the President's Desk: It’s Election Season, Annual Membership Meeting Time, and More!

If last month was about awards —kudos again to the absolutely fabulous Skyline Award organizers and all the winners —now we are officially entering election season.

We are looking ahead to the next era of leadership of PRSA Chicago. As I write this, the nominating subcommittee has put forth their recommended 2026 Board of Directors slate, and we will ask our membership body to vote on the candidates soon, so please keep an eye on your email.

It’s also time for our Annual Membership Meeting which is scheduled for Wednesday, October 22 from 5:30—6:30 PM CT. The annual meeting, which will be virtual this year, is an excellent time for us to reflect on our achievements this year – and give ourselves a bit of a pat on the back – because we have persevered through a variety of challenges. I am excited to have the opportunity to speak with our membership during this meeting, even via an electronic connection.

Finally, while we’re on the subject of challenges, I wanted to reiterate that many professionals in our industry may be struggling. A recent message from PRSA CEO Matt Marcial, CAE, CMP, highlights resources for members, including information about PRSA National’s hardship program, quarterly payment plan, and opportunities on the PRSA Job Center. For those of you planning to attend ICON 2025, the conference is still on, and I wish you safe travels. (And be on the lookout for President-elect Andrew Krause, who will be in attendance.)

I’ll end this note with a reminder to be kind and patient with yourself and those around you. Let’s have hope for the future, even as we rally around our current circumstances.

Looking forward to connecting with you soon (virtually or otherwise!)

~ Bridgette
