From the President's Desk: Welcome to the Year of the Fire Horse

Chicago communicators, I have news for you. Just like the weather in Chicago, 2026 is expected to be intense.

If you thought 2025 was a wild ride, 2026 is the year of the Fire Horse, beginning February 17, 2026 and ending on February 5, 2027. Occurring every 60 years (previously 1966), this year is associated with intense energy, passion, and independence, often considered a time for bold, transformative actions rather than calm. 

At PRSA Chicago, our board is passionate about sharing networking and professional development opportunities with our members throughout 2026. We’re committed to working with our members and volunteers to develop programming and events sharing topics and strategies on the forefront of our profession. Our events planned for March are perfect examples.

I’m grateful for our immediate past president Bridgette Russell, APR, the PRSA Chicago Executive Committee, our Board of Directors and our Volunteers for laying a great foundation for 2026, a year that should be bold and transformative for all of us.
