From the President's Desk: Stunning Chicago Skylines and Honoring the Best of the Best through PRSA Chicago’s Skyline Awards

Summers in Chicago are special. Those of us who know it’s a limited window tend to savor the vibrancy of the city and revel in it as much as possible before cooler days begin to take hold. While we continue to power through what’s left of summer with street festivals, outdoor concerts, sporting events and other activities around town, I encourage us to savor the moment.

Earlier this month, nearly 50 public relations and communications professionals joined the chapter to enjoy a picturesque view of the city’s skylines during an early evening Chicago River Architecture Tour aboard a Wendella boat cruise. It was lovely meeting others in our industry for the first time and getting to know colleagues even better, all set to the backdrop of a beautiful night along the riverwalk.

And speaking of stunning skylines, PRSA Chicago will be honoring some of the best of the best. This year’s Skyline Awards Gala will take place on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in the chic, modern, industrial space of Venue West. Thanks to our sister PRSA chapter, Greater Cleveland, who judged the 2024 Skyline entries, we’ll be celebrating the creativity, media savvy and accomplishments of nearly 60 finalists in our program and project categories.

The Skyline Awards aligns with the rigor of the national PRSA Anvil Awards. Much like the sparkling city sunsets, all awards finalists have met the threshold to be recognized with an award of excellence or the Skyline Award of their respective categories AND will walk away with sparkling hardware. Additionally, join us at the gala to meet our 2024 professional awards honorees and the Best of Skyline recipient, and learn why they’ve earned those titles this year.

Let’s help savor meeting fellow professionals in our industry, discover what we have in common and how we can better support one another, and recognize those who continue to selflessly advance public relations and communications in the Chicago area for all. As we usher in the fall season, let’s celebrate the best of the best together at the Skyline Awards, and all this city has to offer.
