Celebrate the close of National Hispanic Heritage Month with PRSA Chicago at our 'Telling the Xicago Story: The Rise of Latinx Influence & Storytelling' luncheon on Tuesday, Oct. 15 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at The Ivy Room, 12 East Ohio Street. The panel will be a conversation among some of Chicago's top Latinx influencers in the media space with a focus on how they have used digital and traditional media to tell the stories of the Latino community both on a national and local perspective, as well as how they have used it to become influencers themselves.

Diana Gutiérrez is a Mexican-American Chicago native. Born to immigrant parents, she is bilingual and speaks fluent Spanish. 

Currently, she's the morning news reporter and anchor for Chicago's WCIU 'The Jam'. Born on Chicago's Southwest side, Gutiérrez understands the importance of unbiased journalism and is passionate about storytelling. As Vice-President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists- Chicago Chapter, she focuses on keeping their mantra alive, 'more Latinos in News'! 

As a first-generation college graduate, she received her bachelor's degree from DePaul University in 2016. She kicked off her career in South Bend, Indiana where she was a weekday general assignment reporter and weekend morning anchor with ABC57. 

Since then, she has interviewed San Juan, Puerto Rico Mayor Carmen Yulin Cruz, actress and author Diane Guerrero, activist Dolores Huerta, to name a few, and she's ready to tackle any other story that will impact our community.

A Chicagoan from the Irving Park/Albany Park neighborhood. Son to an immigrant factory worker and butcher.

What started as a simple curiosity to document events and parties Roger “Tino” Morales attended and produced with friends evolved into a full-fledged passion and profession. Morales’ innate love to tell stories started through his first artistic outlet through music as a rapper, and he’s continued to tell stories - but now through photographs and film.

Currently, Morales is the Brand Innovation Manager at Chicago Beyond, an impact investor that backs the fight for youth equity in Chicago. In this role, he is in charge of activations through a combination of social media and cultural partnerships ranging from music, art, and justice-based activities to community events.

Previously, from 2015-2017 Morales was the Multimedia Producer for the Chicago Tribune's premium verticals: Food & Dining, Theater Loop, and Blue Sky Innovation. From 2012-2015 he was the Multimedia Producer for Hoy Chicago newspaper.

Laura Rodríguez is a bilingual multimedia journalist for HOY, Chicago Tribune’s Spanish-language newspaper. For almost four years, Rodríguez has focused on exposing the often untold and compelling stories of the Latino community in the Chicago area and beyond. Her work coverage ranges from immigration, human interest, entertainment, features to breaking stories. Rodríguez aims to write pieces that transcend language, race, age, and gender barriers. She was awarded a Chicago Tribune Beck Award for outstanding professional performance for HOY in 2018. Born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico, and a DePaul graduate, Rodríguez is a mariachi fanatic and a country music love. She writes more than she cooks and enjoys a glass of rosé most Thursdays evenings.

Paulina Roe is an on-air personality born and raised on the southwest side of Chicago. Roe attended UIC and graduated in 2014, where she then moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dreams in radio. In 2016, she moved back to Chicago where she joined the Fred and Angi morning show on 103.5 KISSFM and iHeartRadio. Roe can be heard every morning from Monday-Friday from 5AM to 10 AM, as well as on her own podcast, "unEntitled"-  showcasing millennials doing amazing things and following their dreams all over the country. 

Roe is heavily involved with local charities and community events throughout the city. She loves nothing more than to give back to the city that raised her.

Anayeli Ruiz joined NBC 5 and Telemundo Chicago in October of 2017.

Ruiz came to Chicago by way of Corpus Christi, Texas where she worked for the local NBC and Telemundo affiliate for 3 years. She has reported and anchored the news in both English and Spanish. While in Corpus Christi, she was part of a team that launched the 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscast for the Telemundo station where she covered the landfall of the Hurricane Harvey in South Texas area.

Ruiz also worked for the ABC station and Mundo Fox in Corpus Christi, the NBC/ Telemundo station in Midland/Odessa, and Azteca America in Houston.

Ruiz was born in Mexico City but was raised in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from the University of Houston with a bachelor’s degree in Communications and Spanish.

In her free time, she likes to dance, spend time with her family and friends, loves to explore new restaurants, and enjoys taking her two dogs Pancho and Frida on long walks.

Ruiz is thrilled to be part of the NBC 5 and Telemundo team.
