They will share tips for mental wellness, how to avoid burnout, practicing gratitude, negotiating skills, finding your voice, establishing boundaries and more. SANDWINA exists to make lives better, paychecks bigger and jobs more fulfilling.

Melissa Thornley
Emotional Intelligence Consultant, Content Creator & Coach (PCC)
Melissa Thornley is a consultant and executive coach specializing in emotional intelligence, team dynamics and inclusive leadership. Her clients span multiple industries and include USG, Deloitte, University of Chicago and Digitas. She serves as President of the Board of Directors for Free Spirit Media, a not-for-profit whose mission is to transform media and society by providing opportunities for emerging creators primarily from communities of color. Thornley’s passion for leadership and team development evolved over her two decades in advertising and film production. She led world-renowned creative editorial and visual effects teams in Chicago, New York, and London.

The fast-paced and high intensity environments working with clients like Levi’s, Audi, Nike, and Coca-Cola were where the seeds of Thornley’s coaching career took root. As the former Chicago Director of the Institute for Management Studies, Thornley consulted with talent leaders at Fortune 500 companies on leadership initiatives to serve emerging leaders to senior level executives. Thornley holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish from Indiana University. She is certified in two leadership assessments: Kolbe, which looks at natural strengths and problem-solving instincts and the EQi2.0, which measures the skills that make up emotional intelligence. She’s also certified by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) as well as the Coaches Training Institute, and Tiara International.
